My Photographic Interests

After we had been given the initial briefing we got together for a group tutorial with Steve to discuss our ideas and thoughts about the module, and what we plan to do for the final major project. We talked about our interests and how we can incorporate this into our work for this project.

The starting point for the final major project is my own interest in blogging, and particularly writing about beauty products and lifestyle themes, such as cooking and travel. I started my blog a year ago, and post one new post a week. I found that I enjoyed taking the photographs to go along with the post a lot. I pushed myself to make each and every picture different and aesthetically good. The picture is the first thing the reader will see coming directly to my blog, from outside websites such as bloglovin.com and link I post on twitter and Facebook. I want the images to draw the reader in and want them to read the whole post.

My lifestyle post are similar in the way I want the reader to read on, but these posts have more than the one picture. Sometimes I need the images to describe what I'm doing with a recipe, or showing somewhere I have visited. I very much enjoyed exploring new places, seeing new cultures and photographing them. I want my readers to be interested and maybe want to visit the places themselves.

I would never talk about anything, either beauty or lifestyle related, that I didn't like in a positive way. I don't want to deceive anyone into thinking I like something I don't. I try to be light and enthusiastic in my blog posts, as if I was talking to a friend in person. I want them to come back every week and feel like we are having a casual chat about a new product, cake I've baked or place I've visited.

I have been an avid YouTube watcher for a few years and I have become a huge fan of the beauty ‘vlogging’ and blogging community that has built up.  I want to be able to create something that involves me talking about my thoughts and experiences, and have others be able to relate. I want the piece to communicate the ideas of how YouTube has affected consumerism, specifically girls of my age range 18-25
